THE ART OF LUXURY

On 10 August 2016, Art Eye Gallery and The Saxon Hotel in Johannesburg hosted a private event curated for 50 exclusive Soutern African art collectors.

The event was the brainchild of Tyrone Selmon, owner of Art Eye Gallery in Johannesburg. The concept of bringing fine dining and art together creates a new way to experience and interact with art. Several of South Africa's top contemporary artist was on shown at this very exclusive event including the likes of Terri Broll, Lionel Murcott, Trevor Coleman, Schalk van der Merwe, Thokozani Mthiyane and Michelle Silk. For Selmon, who curated the show, it's a match made in heaven sharing some of the artists creations alongside the excellence of cullinary greats like Luke Dale Roberts, Candice Philip and Werner Snoek.

"For me it's an extreme privilige to be sharing a space with some of our countries top contemporary artists, especially at such a prestigious event like this", says Schalk van der Merwe, one of the selected artists on show.

With very positive feedback after the first event, Mr.Selmon is convinced this is to become an annual event that will have socialites and collectors waiting in anticipation for their exclusive invitation.
